Despite the current economic challenges, event marketing remains the most cost-efficient way to meet face-to-face with customers and to generate a volume of qualified new leads. First quarter 2009 data, compiled by the Center for Exhibition Industry Research, show space sold is off by 14.8%, while the number of exhibiting companies shrank by 10.4% from last year. But, attendance is only down by a surprisingly small 1.5% in early 2009. It may be counterintuitive, but this might just be a very smart time to exhibit at a trade show. And remember, 85% of all trade-show attendees have buying authority.
